#04. 1 kilogram of ads in post box / Kilo reklam ve schránce

S jarem nám do schránky přichází obrovské množství reklamních letáků. Množství reklam překonalo i předvánoční nával. Poslední zásilku jsem zvážil a vážila víc než kilo. Dánské schránky jsou ohromné, ale ani tak to nestačí, reklamy se válí všude kolem vchodu do domu a silný dánský vítr je roznáší po okolí.

With the arrival of spring we have more and more ads in our postbox. Amount of ads overcame ads which came before Christmas. I weighted last package of ads and it weighted more then one kilogram. Danish letter boxes are huge, but it is not enough. Ads are laying everywhere around the entrance to our house and strong Danish wind is blowing them around.

#03. Nest box project – first observation/ Monitorování sýkorek – první kontrola

Tento týden jsme byli poprvé zkontrolovat 19 budek, které máme na starosti v rámci Nest box projektu. Na 13 z nich už sýkorky pracují! Budky budeme obcházet vždy jednou týdně a zaznamenávat postup stavby hnízd. Na fotce je nejpokročilejší hnízdo, které je z 1/4 postaveno. Sýkorky kladou vejce začátkem května.

This week we controlled at the first time our 19 nest boxes, which we care about in Nest box project. Blue tits have already started working on their nests in 13 boxes! We will control boxes once a week and record the process of construction of nests. On the photo, there is our most advanced nest, which is being already built from 1/4. Blue tits lays eggs at the beginning of May.

#02. Shower beer

Frisbee turnaj v Aalborgu končil, když za mnou přišel William z našeho týmu, ať se těším na shower beer. Zvědavý, co to bude jdu po hře do šatny, tam všude mokro, uprostřed místnosti kartony piva a pod každou sprchou sportovec s plechovkou. Otevírám pivo a jdu vystát frontu na sprchu.

Ultimate tournament in Aalborg ended, when William from our team came to me and said that we will have shower beer after the match. I wondered what was he talking about. After the mtach I came to the locker room, there was water everywhere,cans of beer in the middle of the room and sportsman with beer can under every shower. So I opened a beer waited for the shower.

#01. Fifty words and 30+1 days / Padesát slov a 30+1 dnů

Na následujících 31 dnů jsem pro vás připravil zpravodajství s denními postřehy z Dánska. Každý den napíšu článek, který bude mít přesně 50 slov a bude v češtině i angličtině. Dozvíte se například, co je to shower beer, co je lockout dánských učitelů a mnoho dalšího. Omluvte moji nedokonalou angličtinu.

In the next 31 days I will write here blog spots with daily observations from Denmark. I will write an article with directly 50 words every day (in Czech version). You will learn a lot of interesting things like what is it the shower beer or what is the teachers lock out. Sorry for my English. 

Running in wind and snow

Today I took part in the Stige Ø Off Road run. We ran 10 kilometres around the Stige island north of Odense. We ran through the narrow paths over the mounds on the island. It snowed yesterday and in addition very strong wind had been blowing from the early morning. Terrible weather for being outside.

On the start there were approximately 60 competitors. We ran 3 rounds, 10 kilemetres in total. The running track was still up and down. At first we ran up the highest hill, 30 metres above the sea level and then down to the level of the sea to the forest.

There were some suprises for us like crawling under the net or jumping over the ditch. My time was 65 minutes. The winner had a time around 40 minutes. Wind was so strong that it dropped us off our bikes on the way home.

Nest boxes in the woods

This weekend I helped with hanging of nest boxes in the woods around the University. We placed first 30 of 100 boxes. 

It is the part of the scientific project. We will monitor the breeding of the Blue Tit from building of the nest through the egg-laying to the flying out of the nest. Blue Tit lays eggs in the middle of April. So probably I will send here some photos of eggs in a nest box :o).

Danish Pålægschokolade

Pålægschokolade is a thin slice of chocolate which you can put on your toast bread and it is very popular here in Denmark. You can buy it as a milk chocolate or a dark chocolate and is more popular than chocolate spreads like Nutela.
